1. Nature of Service

auto.karibu.social (hereinafter "the Platform", "the Site", "we") is an open online catalog — a free classifieds board that enables individuals to publish advertisements for vehicles and related items. The Platform is NOT a dealer, broker, agent, intermediary, or seller of any kind. We do not own, possess, inspect, appraise, certify, or have any control over any vehicle or item listed on this site.

We merely provide the technical infrastructure for users to post and view advertisements. The Platform does not participate in, mediate, or facilitate any transaction between users.

2. User-Generated Content

All listings, descriptions, photographs, prices, specifications, and any other information published on the Platform are created entirely by individual users. The Platform does not verify, validate, endorse, or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, reliability, or truthfulness of any listing content, including but not limited to:

  • Vehicle condition, history, mileage, or mechanical status
  • Accuracy of photographs (photos may not reflect current condition)
  • Ownership status and legal right to sell
  • Pricing accuracy or fairness
  • VIN numbers, registration details, or documentation
  • Claims about modifications, repairs, or maintenance history
  • Seller identity, reputation, or legitimacy

3. No Warranty or Guarantee

The Platform provides its services "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without any warranty of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We specifically disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to:

  • Implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
  • Warranty that listings are accurate, current, or complete
  • Warranty that any transaction will be completed successfully
  • Warranty that the Platform will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
  • Warranty against fraud, misrepresentation, or theft

4. User Responsibility

All responsibility for any transaction rests entirely with the buyer and seller.By using this Platform, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • You are solely responsible for evaluating and verifying all information in any listing
  • You must independently verify the identity of any person you deal with
  • You must physically inspect any vehicle before purchasing
  • You should verify all documentation (registration, insurance, import papers) independently
  • You should have a qualified mechanic inspect any vehicle before purchase
  • You are responsible for ensuring any transaction complies with local laws and regulations
  • You negotiate, agree upon, and complete all transactions at your own risk

🚨 5. Critical Safety Warnings

To protect yourself from fraud and financial loss:

  • NEVER send money in advance — Do not transfer funds, make deposits, or send any payment before physically inspecting the vehicle and verifying all documentation
  • NEVER send money to strangers — Do not wire money, use mobile money, or make bank transfers to people you have not met in person and verified
  • ALWAYS meet in person — Conduct all viewings and transactions face-to-face in a safe, public location during daylight hours
  • ALWAYS inspect the vehicle — Never purchase a vehicle sight-unseen, regardless of how attractive the deal appears
  • VERIFY ownership documents — Check the vehicle registration card, ensure the seller's name matches the documents, and verify with relevant authorities
  • Be wary of prices that seem too good to be true — Unusually low prices are often a sign of fraud, stolen vehicles, or hidden defects
  • Do NOT share personal financial information — Never share bank account details, PINs, passwords, or credit card numbers with sellers or buyers
  • Use secure payment methods — When completing a transaction, use methods that provide a paper trail and receipt
  • Bring someone with you — When meeting a seller or buyer, bring a friend or family member for safety

6. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, auto.karibu.social, its operators, owners, affiliates, employees, and agents shall NOT be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from or related to:

  • Any transaction or attempted transaction between users
  • Any loss of money, property, or assets resulting from dealings with other users
  • Fraud, misrepresentation, theft, or any illegal activity by any user
  • Defective, unsafe, or illegal vehicles or items listed on the Platform
  • Inaccurate, misleading, or false information in any listing
  • Personal injury or property damage resulting from a purchased vehicle
  • Loss of data, business interruption, or any other losses
  • Actions taken by users based on information found on the Platform

7. Intellectual Property

Users retain ownership of content they post. By posting on the Platform, users grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display their content on the Platform. Users represent that they have the right to post all content, including photographs.

8. Content Removal & Moderation

We reserve the right to remove any listing at our sole discretion, without notice, for any reason, including but not limited to: suspected fraud, illegal activity, violation of these terms, or any content we deem inappropriate. However, we are not obligated to monitor or moderate content and accept no responsibility for failing to remove any listing.

9. Third-Party Communication

Communication between users (including via WhatsApp, phone, or any other channel) is entirely between those users. The Platform does not monitor, record, or take responsibility for any communication between users. Users communicate at their own risk.

10. Local Laws

Users are responsible for complying with all applicable local, national, and international laws when using the Platform, including but not limited to: vehicle registration requirements, import/export regulations, tax obligations, consumer protection laws, and anti-money laundering regulations applicable in Tanzania and Zanzibar.

11. Indemnification

By using this Platform, you agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless auto.karibu.social and its operators from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from your use of the Platform, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any rights of another person or entity.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time without prior notice. Continued use of the Platform after any changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

In plain language: auto.karibu.social is a bulletin board. People post ads, other people read them. We don't sell anything, we don't check anything, and we can't be held responsible for what happens between buyers and sellers. Always see the vehicle in person, check all documents yourself, never send money to strangers, and use common sense. If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is.
